2013 and 2014 US Go Congresses
At the latest Coffe Cup tournament in Santa Monica, I heard a very solid rumor that the 2013 Congress is in Seattle, and a less solid rumor that 2014 will be in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Woo! Go Jays !
I doubt it would be in Vancouver. Not at all an idealistic location for the US go congress.

I've also heard Vancouver from a reliable source. My only surprise is 2013 and 2014 so geographically close.

Re: 2013 and 2014 US Go Congresses
I had heard it was supposed to be in Chicago in 2013 then Vancouver for 2014. I guess no one from Chicago wanted to take it on. Maybe someone can hijack the 2014 congress away from Vancouver.

Re: 2013 and 2014 US Go Congresses
What I have heard is that the planning for the 2013 Chicago location fell through. Since Seattle and Tacoma have hosted several congresses in the past and have a large number of active members, the AGA has always considered them the "fall back" location for the congress. At this time, there is a group in Seattle putting together a proposal to host the congress in 2013 since no other options appear to be available.
My understanding is that there is also a group in Vancouver BC who are working on a proposal to host the congress in 2014. I believe that they have been planning their proposal for over a year.
Both groups still need present their proposals for approval by the AGA. The meeting to present proposals and approve locations happens at the congress, so nothing will be official until after this year's meeting in N.C. Contact your local AGA representative for more information.

I vote Baja California, 2015. Anyone want to help put together a proposal?

Cabo San Lucas? We'd have to change the schedule a bit: scuba dive in the mornings, play go in the afternoons.

Re: 2013 and 2014 US Go Congresses
I have a proposal that I know will get shot down immediately, but I still have to put it out there:
How about we go back to Santa Barbara for 2013? Actually, why not go back there every year?
The weather there was perfect, I don't see how anywhere could possibly beat it. The scenery was spectacular. Travel from the airport to the site is quick and easy. Professionals from asia have fewer hours of jetlag to overcome than anything in the middle or east of the US. The food was great - way better than any other congress I've been to (not very many, I admit). Now that it's been done once, we already know exactly what to arrange, who to talk to, where things can go wrong, what it all costs, etc.
OK, sure, the locals who did the bulk of the work last year won't want to do it again already. But maybe we could farm out the effort to non-locals, given that we already know the venue.
Santa Barbara in 201[3-9]!

Re: 2013 and 2014 US Go Congresses
Although I would certainly go to both Seattle and Vancouver, I wonder about the Vancouver attendance. But if we can make up for the U.S. residents who won't go to Vancouver by encouraging CGA members or local non-affiliated players to attend, I think it would be a good investment for congresses after that one. If Canadians who don't normally go to the U.S. Congress enjoy the one in Vancouver, they might want to keep coming. It could be a good way to get a larger and more diverse attendance in future congresses.
Rather than hijack it to a more centrally located city, maybe it's better to make sure those who volunteer enthusiastically are successful and have our support in their preparations!

I would love it, but a lot of money was lost there. I can't see AGA going back there for a while.

For reference:
At the 2012 US Go Congress, the location for 2013 was confirmed as Tacoma.
