OGS

Post by emerus »

Hello, I'm having a difficult time finding evenly matched players to play games with.

Would anyone like a game there? I have two open. If you're interested, we could do a Malkovich-lite game.

Hi there, most players on OGS use ladders, mini-tournaments, and tournaments to find games. I've accepted one of your open games :)

Take a look under "Tournaments" on the left-side panel :)

p.s. in case you haven't noticed, there are some nifty options under "preferences" and "site skinning".

The great thing with the ladder is that your opponents have no choice :) So you get to play all the stronger players you want - in even games.

Thanks, you guys got me started off real nicely.

I guess the hard part is getting rid of the provisional tag so that I can join ladder games. Well, now that shouldnt be a problem. :D

Wrong area, I know. But since Topazg was in here... I have kindle fire, any way I can get the OGS .apk file? I doubt it's in amazon appstore.

If I remember correctly, I think you only need 2 rated games and 10% rating confidence (which should not be a problem because the first game will set it to 10% and it decreases quite slowly), which is much easier than becoming non-provisional (>50% confidence).

One quick method is to just play 2 9x9 games with bots, but given your current number of games there's not much need :)

Wrong person too. topazg was one of the co-founders of OGS, but for the last few years dmg has been the boss. And the Android app is by another person, Tim Kington aka MatCauthon. I commend Graham for being able to let his baby go and be cared for by other people when he no longer could devote the time and effort it deserves ;-) .
