So the Kindle Fire has a pretty good Go app, although I only have the free version at the moment, which only allows the first 60 moves of a 19x19 game, but full games for 9x9 and 13x13.
I'm not sure how strong the program is, but it has 10 AI levels. I beat the first level easily enough and the second after a little practice, but I've been stuck on the third for a long time; I've probably lost something like 12 games to it so far, with the closest margin 1.5 points (playing black each time, Japanese rules).
Today I won for the first time! And by 27.5 points, apparently! The game is attached.
Only after I went back over the game did I realize a few moves I could have done differently; on 73, I could have played at F3 to finish the outline that I'd made, and it would have saved me the trouble of defending that corner so poorly later in the game (which I only escaped from because the AI didn't take my 4 stones when I threatened his). On 161, I should have played at A8 and I could have killed that entire side of the board.
I think this game helped me, a little. There was a point near the end of the game where I suddenly realized, "Hey! I'm actually in yose right now, I should shore up my lines a bit". I've never had that happen before; it was a wondrous experience. Hopefully I'll play a little better next game.
Sorry if I didn't link the game properly, this is my first time posting.

Re: Go on Fire - My games on the Kindle Fire
Here's another game I just finished.
I really don't understand how I'm suddenly doing so well against this AI. As recently as last week I was losing by, on average, more than 15 points every game. Maybe my go has improved a little bit?
Is there any way to determine what rank the AI plays at? I didn't see anything about it in the App store description and the game only has it labeled as "Level 1", "Level 2", etc.

Re: Go on Fire - My games on the Kindle Fire
Thank you for the response, and even commentary!
I know that one reason I can win is because the computer doesn't defend well enough, and let's me take large groups if I surround them sufficiently. ;_; I'm hoping that at higher levels it will stop doing that, and then in the future I can upgrade to 19x19 when I buy the full app.
EDIT: The same thing happened in the second game, I was able to win in the top left corner because the AI didn't defend properly and I captured a large group.
