Go on playok.com - at last no java required
Previously java only, now it is changing to html5. Works fine, a lot of peoples from thailand, japan and china, which is really odd because for a long time it was a Polish only game site (locally called kurnik.pl which mean chicken house). It is worth to mention that it is run by one guy only - Marek Futrega. Go section is very simple but playable. You can set a time, handi, board size and rank/no ranking game. It is quick and responsive on touch devices (it works on iOS devices with no problems). I mention this site because it's a place where I started to play go 7 years ago, so you now... Now it's Java free (at last!), html5 is taking place, so it's great for all mobile go players. There are very few strong players, andi t is rather swarmed by double digit kyus and low sdk but sometimes you will find 1k, 2k players with a hangover, and sometimes even a strong dan player can be found there. Check it out and write what do you think about such simple yet very accesible "go server for masses"

The games over there are "interesting".
I just kibitzed one and I think they played a mix between Othello and Go, trying to fill every space.
But the interface is really nice on a tablet, and it's very low bandwidth and responsive.

On mobile devices HTML5 is used by default. On PC you will be asked if you want to go to standard java version or beta. Beta is HTML5. I'm using Chrome/Firefox on PC, and Chrome/iCabMobile on iPad & iPhone. No issues so far. Features are limited but overall it's good enough to play on the go.

It's for all. What OS/internet browser you use? I checked on winXP, iOS, Linux, with chrome, firefox, safari, iCabMobiesefo wrote:I see no option for html5
Maybe it's limited to non-guest?
- everytime I get option for html5.
Take a look at the screenshot.

Did you try it as a guest? Your screenshot shows you logged in as tommyray, not as a guest.lobotommy wrote:It's for all. What OS/internet browser you use?
