Can I Run Android on PC?

Post by logan »

Hi, I found some Go programs for the Android but do not own such a device. Is there an Android for PC app. -- similar to Amazon's Kindle for PC app.? Thank-you.

Emulating an Android environment really isn't that great.

Plus, I'm sure you can find equivalent software that's actually made to be run on a PC (whether it be Windows, Linux, or Mac).

Thank-you.

I'm interested in these programs (and maybe more later when I look more):

These won't be good to use on my PC?

Considering those are both paid apps, it could be tricky getting them onto the emulator (I don't know though, as I've only used the emulator to test my own apps).

Have you tried GoChild ( http://gochild2009.appspot.com/ )?

I recall it being a very good tsumego website/webapp. :D

Edit:

GoChild looks to have lost some of its problem packs, so it might not be as good anymore.

There is also GoProblems ( http://goproblems.com ). I haven't used it in a long time either, and I recall being really frustrated with some of the problems (for example, I'd find a sequence that I was pretty sure solved the problem, but it would just say I was wrong, and not give any indication why). It is something to consider, though....

I just setup bluestacks.com on my PC, it is beta so I had to reboot and install 3 times before it worked. It also has a cloud app for your Android device so that you can sync apps from your device to bluestacks on the pc. Once I got it installed it seems to work well.

Edit: Oops I just noticed you didn't own a device, there are instructions for installing Google Play in the support forums for bluestacks and they do have 3 different app stores already in bluestacks, including Amazon and 1 Mobile.

Looking at your references to appBrain, you may be able to install directly to bluestacks from there using a browser that you will have to install from one of the included markets.

Thanks for posting the appBrain links, I didn't know my app was listed there and it was updated from Google Play within a day or so of my update. http://www.appbrain.com/app/andgs/com.hg.anDGS
