Thanks topazg, the advice is slowly, slowly sinking in. Just not fast enough. :)

Some comments.

When you started out, you had an eye for the whole board. Remember to play the whole board even when things get complicated. :)

Main focus: Look for opportunities to top the tree.

Edit: Improved variation. :)

Thank you Bill, I really need this stuff drilled into me at the moment, as we'd say in Ireland I'm being thick about it.

Game played at home with Tom (Tomakaze):

I think I was still too passive and I completely misread the bottom right capturing race.

Edit: White + 12.5 was the result.

OK. Here are some comments on the 5 stone game. :)

I took so long because I was trying to find the game losing play. I think I have found it: move 182. :)

Edit: Corrected variation where I left a move unplayed. Variation starts at move 201.

So I'm on a pretty vicious losing streak at the moment. I'll be a Kaya 12k tomorrow if this continues. But, I'm quite happy to say that it's not getting to me. I'm happily playing games not worried about losing and not trying to force wins. I'm trying to be much more aggressive and take sente more often, with all the usual blundering that this causes at the beginning. We'll see how things pan out, the wins will come, I'm pretty sure of that. :)

Yes, I think we both learned valuable lessons from that game. :)

I think playing go while tired is a bad idea, my losing streak continues unabated. It's starting to get at me a little, but I know I'm tired and not playing well so rationally these kind of streaks are to be expected. I've started working through 1001 Life and Death problems again, I badly need the reading practice.

Brown pants over asbestos underwear might not be of help :-D
