It would be relatively easy to make an application that records video of a game and creates an sgf that contains every move.

The application could then project the current state of the goban with a mini projector.

This would allow the players to play with a single stone each: You put your stone, the app sees it and reprojects it on the table. For your next move, you can just take your stone back and play it somewhere else. The app would know which stones have been killed and would stop projecting them.

It could all be done with a smartphone and a mini-projector. Allowing to play in a full sized goban wherever there's a table or wall.

It would also make it easier to review a game after it's been played.

So what you want to do is to play a game on a real board with only one stone, while the whole board stays empty, and you just look at the projection on a wall? That doesn't seem to make sense.
Edit: Unless you mean projected on the board? I think there was a private project like that, I remember seeing video of it at work, although the software used was never published (that I know of).
