Any videos of Go games of 9x9?

Post by Alberich »

On Youtube you can find plenty of 19x19 go games. But I'm curious to know why they don't show 9x9 games. It's interesting to note 9x9 games actually has the same number of possible moves as western chess...10x120 power.

9x9 is mostly a teaching tool or a side game to play quickly. "Official size" for most games of go is 19x19, so that's where most of the focus will be. A lot of learners play on 9x9 and 13x13, since you can play quicker. Right now NHK does weekly lessons on TV using a 13x13 board.

Is there any reason it has to be a video? The aga website has a link to a ton of 9x9 games you can play through, taken from Nikon Kirin pros. (damn autocorrect. I'll let you guess what professional organization they actually belong to.)

I was imagining a bunch of the optics guys at Nikon kick back on the weekend with truly decadent quantities of Kirin... Then they play 9x9, of course.
