So back when I first, first, first started, I played a game on KGS, I took black. Every time I made a move, White would attach. B1 would be the 3-4 point and W2 would attach at the 4-4 point. He did that the entire opening. I ended up losing, because I had no clue how I should play that game.

I was just thinking about it, And I guess I'm still not exactly sure what to do. I'm certainly open to how better players would respond to some strange play like this.

You didn't play against hoshionly did you? That was a 9d on the China trip larking about:

Obviously there are many variations, but to give the answer is one sentence: hane towards corner, if they crosscut then extend, if they don't then you get to connect. As its an attachment it will often get into a local pushing battle, but you have the advantage of being one move ahead.

Thank you for the reply Uber. Unfortunately, This match was not even as standard as that. It was more like B1 3-4, w2 attach at 4-4.
Then me saying "Oh.....that's weird...oook?" So I move to a different corner and play B3 4-4, W4 attach at 3-4. It went on like that for maybe...blacks first 7 moves or so? I don't have that KGS account anymore, it was like 4 years ago. It was just so strange, Like a kind of mirror go with attachments.

You should't tenuki an attachment like that. It is super urgent. Instead of being 2 of you against 1 of him, it changes (if he continues there) to 2 of him against 1 of you. As the stones are touching and running out of liberties it is more urgent than say answering an approach move to a corner where both stones still have 4 liberties.

Ok cool. I doubt I will come across another game like that But if I do, I will make sure to play the Hane that was showed in the game you posted.

What do you think was his strategy in that game? To just play something weird that would confuse me? (because if it was, It worked) or is this actually something people do?
