He doesn't play Go but he knows I do and asked me if there was anything I would like him to get me while he is there. I'm not sure where in Japan he will be so I was thinking of suggesting just a book or two to look for. I was wondering what kinds of things are available at the Go institutes as souvenirs though in the event that he is in Tokyo or Osaka (I'll see him in a few days on Thanksgiving and can ask him more about the trip then.)
Also, suggestions for Go books that have different kinds of content or different coverage than what's available in English. A book from this series, for example, seems good.
My uncle is going to be visiting Japan next month

The Nihon Ki-in in Tokyo has a souvenirs section with the usual suspects: fans, posters, keychains, stickers, beginner sets, etc.Josh Hatch wrote:what kinds of things are available at the Go institutes as souvenirs though in the event that he is in Tokyo or Osaka
(I don't remember if they had T-shirts.

Those are some nifty tea cups! That's what I would get. Too bad I don't read a lick of Japanese...EdLee wrote:http://www.nihonkiin.or.jp/buy/index.html

If he goes to Osaka, then he'd need to visit the Kansai Kiin.

The Nihon Kiin Osaka was better stocked with items than the Kansai Kiin when I was there last time.
