An Exiting Game with Robert Jasiek!
I have just played this game in KGS, the most exiting game I played this year!
Robert seems to be a very aggressive player. He makes thick shapes, and fights severely when chance comes, supported with good reading.
His weak point is counting. Several exchanges occurred in this game, but he mostly mis-evaluated the profit and loss, giving many extra points for me.
I was winning more than 20 points when endgame begun, which lead me to play many careless moves. I should be more careful in endgame.

lovelove, thank you for posting this game. This is very interesting, given all his research.lovelove wrote:His weak point is counting. Several exchanges occurred in this game, but he mostly mis-evaluated the profit and loss,
Maybe it shows one difference between a real-time game and longer research time.

Re: An Exiting Game with Robert Jasiek!
wow...robert tried to overpower his opponent like treating a lower KYU player.
if this is how he plays the game..he will lose 5 stone to professional..
and probably lose two stone with me.

Why don't you challenge RJ to a H2 game then and let us see what happens

lovelove showed a lot more respect for his opponent in his post than you did in yours. It is no shame for an older guy like Robert to lose an online blitz game to a strong player (and a younger one at that!) like lovelove.
I don't know if the language barrier is somehow getting in the way of polite conversation, but it is almost creepy how you seem to show up with an insult in threads involving Robert. Are you seriously going to insult him on the basis of a casual blitz game? This kind of talk might be acceptable for Malkovich posts, where it might be understood as mere theatrics, but it is downright disturbing in cases like this.
My impression was that this is a community for friendly sharing and learning. It is not a place for someone to peacock and intimidate potential bangnegi opponents.
I hope that others are disturbed as well that this sort of attitude is acceptable here just because the person being insulted is unpopular and Magicwand is perceived as "playing a character". Who gets to play a character and who doesn't? This is far more damaging to a friendly community than any thread being derailed by Robert's posting.

I wanted to reply something along the line of this but lacked words, thank you.lemmata wrote:lovelove showed a lot more respect for his opponent in his post than you did in yours.
For me it’s mostly about the difference between descriptive and judgemental. I think it would be nice if we gave feedback using decriptive terms instead of rating one’s behaviour or utterances.

Thankfully, that ban has been lifted or probably was limited. Thanks, mods/admins!

I am not going to mod this thread since I have already spoken in the role of a member and some people think I mix my roles too much between mod and member.
I do find it interesting how one 5D describes the game as ”the most exiting game I played this year!” (2012) whereas another 4D describes it as “tried to overpower his opponent like treating a lower KYU player.” What a contrast of opinions between two dans who are closely ranked.

Actually, I assumed that ”the most exiting game I played this year!” was a small joke by lovelove. Given that the game started at 17.47 UTC, and Korea is UTC+9, lovelove played that game on January 1st 2013, at 02.47 local time, so it was probably the only game he played in 2013 so far.
Anyway, I don't think there is any value in judging a player's strength or style from a single casual blitz game online, so I don't think there is any value to Magicwand's assessment.
Fact is that Robert has consistently held a German 5d rank with an EGF rating that is generally in the low 2400's, which is more than I can say for myself. And the only serious game reference I have towards magicwand would be our L19 tournament game, which I won. So I don't think magicwand can give Robert two stones. The opposite is more likely.

it is not me challenging him with two stone..
it is me giving him two stone which he will never accept

Yes you are right..i dont have any respect towards his game rightfully so after watching his game.
what i criticized was the ridiculous notion that weak player think he can write a book and teach.
my point wasnt directed towards robert but towards general populations who think that way...but if shoe fits then robert should ware it.

1. Trying-to-overpower-his-opponent-like-treating-a-lower-kyu-player moves does make the game very exiting.
2. I agree that Robert is not strong enough to make up his own go theories and write books.

Re: An Exiting Game with Robert Jasiek!
Quite a few other players are more aggressive, seeking any fight just for the sake of it. I am not a particularly aggressive player, unless the opponent gives me a chance or my opponent actually wants to win. If my opponent lets me win by 0.5 points, I can be very peaceful:)
Making thick shapes is not a general characterisation of my play. In part of my games I make them - in others I am selling air.
Do I use chances, when they come, to attack? Of course! You'd better not give me any!:)
Good reading in that game? OMG, I have thought that my reading was absent (and it usually is in byoyomi-only games). In particular, your lower right group's sente life after 107 and your cut 56 were painful. I had not had time to read far enough before.
Counting is a strong point of mine, but not in blitz games. The game was too eventful (frequent major exchanges) for counting.
When you got H13, you were the one to have thick shape! The fight had started from my attack on your group but resulted in your lower right profit and your stronger groups. Impressive! Afterwards, being behind, I tried to further complicate the game, but your choices of exchanges were very effective.
When you played E10, I was not happy with G9. Should it have been at G11? E4 was a loss, but G3 would have been too painful. So I actually wonder whether I lost the game as early as C4 or B4.
Most exciting game of 2012? For me, its excitement level was ordinary:) Surely, it was a very interesting game for its exchanges and mutual fight for center thickness.
Happy New Year

I remember watching Jasiek beat magicwand in an even game on KGS not that long ago.

Re: An Exiting Game with Robert Jasiek!
What will a grudge match even accomplish? If Magicwand loses, do you think those that don't like Robert (like MW) will suddenly start to listen to him or respect his strength? And if Magicwand wins, the personal attacks against Robert will probably increase. I fear that any sort of match like this will only result in greater antipathy.
Edit: Wrote this before seeing what oren posted above. I feel it only confirms my answer to my hypothetical question about RJ winning.
