Starting Monday 6 January 2013, T Mark and myself plan to launch a long-running series here that we hope will also last up to the point where we reach 100,000 games in the GoGoD database.
The idea is to show one game each working day, Mondays to Fridays, that you can play through for fun in 1001 coffee breaks. The games selected will be those that have caught our eye while compiling the database. Rather than famous games or title games the focus will be on games you would enjoy in Ye Old Curiosity Coffee Shop. Rare games. Connoisseurs' games. Games that elicit a wow of amazement, a smile of amusement, a nod of appreciation, even a shrug of incomprehension. Anything other than an obsession with ratings or the latest josekis - nevertheless, since we believe that knowing these games is a step towards enjoying go, we hope they will thus provide some of the motivation that is so necessary for those who are willing to do the technical grind.
The presentation will be a game a working day, each in its own thread. Most of the time only skinny lattes will be on the menu - we will gave only a very brief explanation of why the game excited our curiosity. Very occasionally we may add a dollop of cream with a longer explanation, or sprinkle on some chocolate in the form of a commentary.
We do not intend this to become a Q&A exercise for us, but we do hope that others will discuss the games offered and so share their experience with others.
If possible, we each plan to work in shifts of a week on and a week off, but if real life intrudes plans may change and gaps may occur. Naturally, plans may also change if members prefer to spend their coffee breaks differently.

Awesome! Would a specific subforum for these be a good idea so they are not lost among other threads (and a running numbering in thread names to help to refer to them effeciently?

Not a bad idea, but we do already have a Professionals sub-forum for "higher level discussions, analysis of professional games, etc., " which would be appropriate for such threads.
Patience, grasshopper.

Re: 1001 GoGoD Games
I am also looking forward to this. One game per day, for 1001 games - that is almost three years
But please - could the admins/mods please create a separate sub-forum for it. 1001 threads would swamp the other posts in any of the existing forums, professional or otherwise.
As for numbering the threads, I think that is almost a necessity. How else will we know when 1001 games are reached?

It actually adds up to a little more than three years.
3 years * (365 days - (52 weeks * 2 weekend days)) = 783 days
And from the wording ("working days") I assume they'll also be taking holidays off.
Edit:
Stupid oversight in my maths.

It's closer to 3 years, 10 months (over 200 weeks).

Re: 1001 GoGoD Games
Thanks for the corrections
Though I wonder if, in fact, it is a little longer:
A (non-leap) year has 365 days. Subtract 52 weekends of 2 days each. Also, subtract 8 days per year for the public holidays in England and Wales. This leaves 365 - 52*2 - 8 = 253 working days per year. So there are 4*253 = 1012 working days over 4 years. (Or maybe 1013, because one of those years will be a leap year?) Anyways, 1001 games, at 1 game/day, will come just 11 days short of lasting 4 years.
I wonder if they realized what they are getting themselves in for...
(On the other hand, one or both may be semi-retired, so I don't know what they think of public holidays. Maybe they just keep working on GoGoD
