First even game vs 1d goes badly

Post by JuicesGo »

Here's a game I played black pretty terribly, I'm only really interested in comments on moves 1-70, because afterwards I started playing terrible overplays thinking I was behind. I included some of my own comments, but hope to get further comments from other (hopefully stronger) players.

My own comments by move:
Move 9: Wasn't sure if it should have been at b16 instead, I wanted to defend corner in sente but was unhappy with the result here
Move 13: Should be at e14 instead, but I ignored it because my goal was to keep sente, this makes me feel like move 9 wasn't the move for sente
Move 27: Wrong direction, immediately realized my mistake when white attached and settled so easily. Was this my only mistake in this area?
Move 33: Was unhappy that this corner invasion worked so well, I guess my problem was letting w settle his other group with 28.
Move 59: Wrong direction, should have played to help my weak group. Also at a closer look, it seems the white group is alive locally.

Thanks for the help!

11: Gets rid of the opportunity to peep.
19: Leaves a lot of aji and likely makes capturing the stone on the second line sente.
41: I prefer filling and not allowing the cut.
53: Why not O3?
57: You should reserve this and strengthen your bottom group first.
75: I'd let white take the stone and play on the other side.
80: After this S5 is sente to kill.

[Edit: Wrote before reading Dragon Pie's comments]

:b9: - I don't understand white's last couple of plays, but I would just B16. However, the bigger problem was :b11:. This atari just helps white fix his weaknesses - it's a thank-you move. It would be better to just connect at B16 for :b11:.

:b15: - This looks like some sort of weird double-Chinese. But I don't like that both of your "wings" from your 4-4 stone are low. I think Q10 is better.

:b19: - I think G17 is better. Say later in the game white is induced to capture your B15 stone. Then, you suddenly have a shape problem that needs patching, whereas with G17 you don't.

:b27: - Not a big fan of this move. K15 seems to me to be a better direction.

:b31: is really slow.

:w32: - I would rather play something like G4, G3, F3, etc.

:b63: is too thin - white could play N3 or O3 in the future and secure life. The reason you lost the game was because white did this but you didn't recognize how thin your shape was.

You spotted a number of mistakes. Good going! :)
