Re: Kgs + iPad
wms is working on an HTML5 version of the client, which will work on any device that can run a browser. But he has a life, so it might take a while.
Meanwhile, you could look into solutions such as AlwaysOnPC to run the applet remotely.

Re: Kgs + iPad
I have tried the alwaysonpc app, but never was able to use KGS. I could log on, but the connection to KGS would usually just end within a few minutes... finally I gave up.

When you used it last time? It works without any problems now, since middle 2012 I have no such issues. At this moment it's a good and stable service.

I think last time I used it was around October or so.

I have no issues in last few months. I remember there were issues in 2010/2011 and early 2012, then they updated their servers and since then all is good enough to run KGS as long as you want to. Today I was logged into KGS for more than 1 hour with no problems.
I think it is a good option for android users too because you get full pc version of kgs, although with few limitation as this is via webbrowser (you can't install kgs java application on AlwaysOnPC).

Re: Kgs + iPad
I hope it does work.... I've been suggesting this for months, without being able to test it myself. And it's a rather expensive app to buy just for running CGoban.
But now I might have acquired an iPad, so maybe I'll test it myself---when I get around to it.

If anyone want to see it in action just search for it on youtube, or if you want to see how it works today I can record new video about it.
It looks like they upgraded their servers lately and it works a little better now (smaller lag issue).

Re: Kgs + iPad
Good to know.
I've just realised there's an iPhone version... and suddenly I want to know if there's anyone logging in to KGS through it and what kind of glasses they'd need to use...

Me
But I can't recommend it. Even though it is not so bad because there is normal pinch to zoom the iPad is better device for it, and I don't think it was my best purchase on iPhone. I just almost always have an iPad with me and because of that it turned out that I don't use it too much on a phone.

Re: Kgs + iPad
You're in luck! wms is starting his work on the html client. He said he's devoting the next 5 weeks (he's on day 4 atm) to working on the client. You can keep up with all his work here: https://plus.google.com/108736506961432085848/posts
Once this is done we'll be able to play and the ipad and iphone and such!
