4-4 is not what I'd normally expect in a 3 stone game. Some normal options are approach or san-ren-sei. I'm choosing this because I saw it in a recent pro game and have an idea on how I can fight with it.

Anyway, lets just wait and see what kind of plan he will come up with.

I tend to play this move quite a bit vs stronger opponents, I like that the outcomes are pretty clear-cut, white usually gets the corner and I get some thickness. Alternatively, it could just be a big aji-filled corner for me.

My corner is thin, but I knew that when I played it. Because it's thin, I disregarded all tight pincers on :w7:, I don't want to be thin on all fronts. This way, I'm developing a framework while keeping the pressure on white.

I think Magicwand wont run with his stone just yet. He likes to make aji and exploit it later.

I like Q9. It makes it easier to decide which direction to block for the 3-3 invasion and instead invites an invasion as an approach, but white will still be cramped. In my mind, it's similar to the Chinese fuseki in this way.
