Hello all,

being an average chess player, I "accidentially" found a nice goban in a game shop while in holidays about three years ago; that's why I'm now also playing on KGS and more recently also in a local go club. Compared to chess, go still feels a bit uneasy, though (and I'm too much focused on single stones...) ;-)

This forum looks interesting and fun and I'm glad to have found it.

Regards

Me too; it took a while to adjust to the idea that a stone being captured is very different from a pawn being captured.

Yep - they might all look the same, but it's all masquerade. ;)

Pawns aren't a horrible analogy, so long as you bear in mind that a mere pawn is different from a passed pawn, which is different from a pawn that happens to be lounging on a forking square; and that if a competent opponent leaves a pawn loose, he probably has a plan. Right?
