1001 GoGoD games for your Coffee Break #66 (8 April 2013)

Post by TMark »

My apologies for the later arrival of this bulletin. I have just returned from the British Go Congress in Stevenage, where I was lucky enough to get one of my games analysed by Michaell Redmond.

Recently I have been catching up with work on Kido magazines from the 1940s and I have been discovering some gems. When we started GoGoD, it was with the collected games of Go Seigen. I also had the collected games of Honinbo Shusai and I bought the games of Takagawa, Kitani and Hashimoto Utaro. It is always a special treat, then, to find games of any of these players that the collectors failed to find or did not bother to include. I have now found two more games of Shusai, 2 more of Kitani and a number of games (two handicap and more rengo games) of Go Seigen. These will all appear in the GoGoD database in the near future.

This is one of the Kitani games played against a patron of go in Japan in 1943.

No aji, keshi, kifu or kikashi has been harmed in the compiling of this post.
