New player in search of mediocre goban n' stuff

General discussions about gobans, etc., go here. If you're selling go equipment, it should go in the Trading Post.

Have you checked whether there are any boardgame stores around you? Even if they don't have a go board in stock, they should be able to order one from their supplier: you'll be paying a middle man, but one who pays wholesale and less for shipping, so it might end up cheaper.

Ah ok, your sentence I wouldn't read as saying that. Apologies. :)

In Greece even big stores don't know what go is. I asked around and they were totally clueless...
The game is not very popular down here unfortunately.

By the way i'm thinking of buying this one

There seems to be a facebook page for an unofficial greek go association. Maybe you might find some people from there to play with your new equipment after you get it :)

I'm well aware of it tchan001 but thanks anyway.
It's more of a fan page about go rather than an unofficial greek go association. The group was made by someone who loves go much but that's it unfortunately. Me and i friend of mine have been showing the game to a couple physics and mathematics students but so far just one girl has showed some interest. The worst part is that i have shown the game to a couple chess players who also study mathematics but to no avail. Chess players are the worst. They think that chess is the ultimate game and are very snob. At least they now know that there is another game out there who matches if not exceeds the complexity of chess.

Don't lose heart, every time I am sure nobody will ever show up at my Go club again, someone turns up to learn to play. ^^

Good luck bringing Go to the Greek masses!
