Bantari: yes, they're published http://senseis.xmp.net/?SLSnapshot.
The content is also under the open content license, which is Copyleft (though sadly incompatible with a number of more modern open licenses).

Oh... but you still need to copy the archive and store it locally and update it often, no?hyperpape wrote:Bantari: yes, they're published http://senseis.xmp.net/?SLSnapshot.

I mean - if SL folds, this link will no longer work. Anybody has a local backup of that?
Otherwise we might end up like with GTL.

Re: Racism on KGS
What do you mean about the GTL? Anyway, now that you mention it, someone will have an updated snapshot later this hour (I have a slowish connection).
But in any case, I'm not worried about it. I am reasonably confident that Arno would not feel comfortable disappearing Senseis. His public statements sound like he feels he's made a commitment.

Re: Racism on KGS
I thought I read recently that a few months worth of data got lost during move because the backup was on the same server as the service when it got moved. Maybe I got mixed up, I did not really paid much attention... Maybe it was a different service?hyperpape wrote:What do you mean about the GTL?
Oh, here is the thread:
http://www.lifein19x19.com/forum/viewto ... &hilit=GTL
I think it might be that this got fixed later, but a cold shower, yes?
Just saying.

Re: Racism on KGS
Yes, and I'm aware of it - but I'm not arguing against racism. I'm arguing against what happened before. You should have quoted this part of my post as well:Javaness2 wrote:It's nice that you use irrational prejudice in an argument against racismKirby wrote:In my opinion, any objection against KGS is credible. So, yes. My position is irrational in some sense. And in this case, I don't care. Had the event I described not happened, things would have been different. But it happened, and this is my reaction to it.Kirby wrote: It's not rational, yes.
I didn't post to make friends. I know that most people here love KGS and will defend it to the end, and I'm sure after this thread, have an even lower opinion of me. But from my perspective, someone was mean to me, and so I will be mean to them.
I should note that my prejudice here is not racist or anti-racist. It is anti-KGS.

Yup, I agree.daal wrote: ...
Well, exactly.Racism is an example of such a fixed mindset - one that takes no consideration for *what* somebody does.

Same here. I still hop on occasionally, but very infrequently. I used to like observing games and chatting there, but without stone sounds observing kinda sucks, and I've grown tired of the overbearing admins (I guess that makes me a teenager that resents the "family friendly" approach).TheBigH wrote:FWIW I don't enjoy playing on KGS anymore either. Re: Racism on KGS
I used to just idle on KGS and watch games. I don't do that anymore, because the chat is half uninteresting blather and half admins yelling at them. I have no desire to see either, and there's no way to hide the chat. Give me a chat hiding feature and I'd probably be on KGS more.TheBigH wrote:FWIW I don't enjoy playing on KGS anymore either. Just close the "English game room" window (click the X top right). You can see the ongoing games to watch through the active games tab.Redundant wrote:I used to just idle on KGS and watch games. I was talking about the games themselves, not the rooms.kivi wrote:Just close the "English game room" window (click the X top right). Re: Racism on KGS
Huh... This issue has been talked about before, but just out of curiosity: Why do you feel compelled to read the chat/kibitz when you watch the game? To be honest, most of the time when I watch I am not even aware there is any kibitz... But I hear some people just cannot resist, even if it bothers them. Why?Redundant wrote:I used to just idle on KGS and watch games. I don't do that anymore, because the chat is half uninteresting blather and half admins yelling at them. Clone the game or drag the window over to edge of screen?Redundant wrote: I was talking about the games themselves, not the rooms.
