I have a teaching game by Iwamoto against an American whose name I cannot be sure of in its Japanese version, plus I only have the surname. I would appreciate the full and correct name from those who may know of him.
The name looks something like Kingbark. He was of Russian origin and I assume his name reflects that - his parents fled the Revolution and brought their son up in Nagasaki. He moved to the USA and at the time of this game, 1959, he was working for Bell Telephone in New Jersey. He seems to have been in the same club/area as Robert Ryder 1-dan, and was good enough to play Iwamoto on 7 stones.
Of course, as with Catalin Taranu and others, the Japanese may have confused personal name and surname. The b can be a v.
Help with a US name, please

Probably a dead end, but there's a Kinsberg mentioned associated with Bell Labs: http://www.usgo.org/archive/agahbk95.html

Re: Help with a US name, please
Thanks. T Mark found a reference to a B.J. Kinsburk which would match (a Russian would pronounce the last -g as -k). However, the Kingburk version was used more than once in the same context, so it remains open, perhaps.
However, browsing that document was useful as it's the first time I've seen the proper spelling for Robert Gillooly. I had previously guessed at Gillouly. I have now made the change and so you can say you have contributed to the GoGoD database!

Re: Help with a US name, please
Glad to be of help with anything. On another note, it's a shame that the history Go in the US (and to a somewhat lesser extent Europe) is so hard to find.
