KGS escaper policy - explicit enough?

Comments, questions, rants, etc, that are specifically about KGS go here.

Could I inquire why? I'm curious.

Because it doesn't happen to me very much. If it happened more, it'd be more of an issue for me.

The reason I have "philosophically" argued for a different policy is because I think that giving losses to escapers will make them even more rare.

But if that doesn't happen, I don't run into escapers that much anyway, so it doesn't affect me much.

- This "you" might just be an aspiring Go player whose first impression of the community is an escaper and people to defend him. Where's family friendliness in that?

- I don't understand what you're getting at:

1. Does a 20-25k guy need to complain? What does this accomplish?
2. Does a 20-25k guy stay 20k-25k for long to qualify?
3. Problems don't always get voiced. What is wrong about this kind of behaviour?
4. Complaining is ineffective and people know it.

Perhaps you don't realize it, but every single game you've played in your life and quitted, you've dropped because of its flaws. Because this process is largely instinctive, it's hard to detect. First impression is everything.

This thread has already served its purpose. Wms knows that escaping is a problem. He's the only person who can improve the system. Constant iterations have improved the presented model for escaper handling, but we are unable to make changes. This is the difference between open and closed code.

Well, actually, this is the biggest problem, in my opinion. Anecdotally, I have evidence of newcomers being put of both KGS and go because of (1) the difficulty of getting a game with a [?] and (2) the very high frequency of escapers at that level (ddk)
