Re: Coming back
Okay, I'll bite. Why do you hate Battousai leichtloeslich? I think his videos are quite good. I was even inspired by one of his videos that I can't seem to find at the moment where he reviewed a series of games betweeen a pro and amateur on Tygem where the amateur player starts at tengen and when white plays 4-4 immediately invades at 3-3. While Batt doesn't seem too fond of the amateur's play, I've tried that same strategy a couple of times as a result because I think it's an interesting idea.
Edit: Found the video.

Re: Coming back
"Hate" might be a strong word. Maybe I'll go with "despise".
That totally depends on what you're looking for, I guess. His "live commentaries" are mostly him playing much weaker opponents (if that's not the case, how come he won like 99% of his live commented games? And the ones he lost (like that one against a KGS 1k) magically don't appear on youtube) and his "pro reviews" lack a lot in useful discussion, imho.
It seems to be just him speed-clicking through pro games, which I could do by myself. (His commentary on pro games doesn't ever seem to exceed KGS 5k level.)
The video you're referring to is a good example, actually. What is there to comment? Some amateur plays a *really* bad opening against someone who is *much* stronger than him, and gets destroyed. Do we really need to stretch that into 1 hour and 4 minutes?
Also I really dislike how arrogant he sometimes gets while playing much weaker opponents on camera. ("I'll let him get away with that" is the sort of comment I mean. If you have to "let him get away with that", maybe you shouldn't be playing someone *this* weak in the first place. Or sometimes he'll say "I'll be nice", when his weaker opponent is obviously struggling. It's just arrogant, imho. You could make those comments in even games, perhaps, but not when your opponent is >=2 stones weaker.)
All that said, I actually enjoyed a lot of Bat's videos for their entertainment value (including the video you mentioned).
I guess I just don't like that he tries to pawn it off as him teaching. If he'd call his youtube channel "The go clown show!" (forgetting about all the non-go stuff on there for the moment), I wouldn't have any negative feelings towards him what's-o-ever.

Re: Coming back
I do agree battousai's videos aren't so much instructive or useful sometimes, but just entertaining.
I think some of his lectures are alright, but nothing is explain in depth I would agree.
I like shygost a little more, but I also feel sometimes he misses things.
That's why pros are preferred teachers, they don't leave anything open at all.

Re: Coming back
Maybe taking a few of his words a bit too literally? When he says something like, "I'll let him get away with that." He probably means that he could resist a bit, but he can't really read it out and is more willing to play a calmer move. This may be the case for the phrase, "I'll be nice." Since he's a fan of complicated fighting, he might feel that the calmer move is the better choice sometimes and that's what he thinks to himself.
I do want to make clear, it does sound kind of arrogant :I. And I do agree that his commentary is a bit lacking. And I would also like to see more games where he loses and he comments on the game. I also don't like how his go uploads have reduced in frequency. I'm not a huge fan of him either, though I do appreciate the go material he provides.
