It seems that recently every time I look into the idea of some hairbrained DYI project, an Arduino is mentioned as the controller. Is it really as ubiquitous as it appears to be? And does anyone have reviews/recomendations for a starter kit?

Thanks
JB

I've a friend who's obsessed with it who has been trying to convince me to join him for quite a while now. It looks like rather a lot of fun. I poked him there and he said there isn't really a generic starter kit, you really pick out one based on what your needs will be. Like you can get Arduino Uno starter kits but you might need more than an Uno for your idea etc.

They're packaged nicely for people who are inexperienced to get going on fun projects. There are other things out there just as good or better depending on what is trying to be done, but Arduino is a good choice for many people getting their feet wet.
