Re: Samsung cup preliminary final
I wonder how Japan will fair in this tournament. It's noticeable that Iyama Yuta isn't playing, but Takao also did well in the LG cup, so maybe he can do well in the Samsung cup as well. I also hope Choi Cheolhan does well too, I've always liked watching him play.

I always wonder where this "Chun Guangya" thing came from initially. This Chinese player is 邬光亚 (Wu Guangya, see http://senseis.xmp.net/?WuGuangya). The incorrect pronunciation is not even close.
Re: Samsung cup preliminary final
I've copied that name from igokisen. I wasn't sure if it was correct.graemy wrote:I wonder how Japan will fair in this tournament. It is fixed.

Re: Samsung cup preliminary final
Well,it is regrettable that Iyama doesn't play. I also hope to see Koro Rin, as his recent performance is quite good, beat Fan Tingyu in LG Cup,currently lead Iyama in Gosei Tournament and make through the challenger deciding's match (lost to Iyama) of the Meijin.
Maybe these 2 don't play because there is a conflict with the Gosei Tournament (they could reschedule that tournament in another day...)
However, both Takao and Yuki did good in recent international match. The former advanced to the quaterfinal of LG Cup and the latter is the only hope left of Japan in Milky Cup.
Let's wait and see.

Re: Samsung cup preliminary final
It is very likely to also interfere with Meijin which is hard to reschedule since they book facilities in advance and many people plan around those times being fixed.

Re: Samsung cup preliminary final
Well,I assume that's why top Japanese pro don't play international preliminaries, because they won't be sure whether they could participate the final stage.
And therefore the representative team is decided to avoid conflict with domestic tournament?
Iyama is still looking for his 7-crown,so it seems that we won't see him very active in international tournament?
