38th Meijin

Post by oren »

Yamashita Keigo is defending his title against Iyama Yuta. The second day starts in 7 hours or so.

You can watch it live at nicovideo (no timeshift?)

http://live.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv147951091

It's also on igs and wbaduk.

Iyama Yuta won nigiri and starts with black.

You're right about the importance of seeing the meals. But it looks like both of them prefer not to overfill themselves.

I had the feeling that Yamashita was driving and Iyama was a passenger in the first game. Lunch pictures are important, though.

Cheers,

Here's game one of the finals. Some pretty crazy fighting happens with a ko to save a group, then a big exchange, and finally a couple of tesujis to set the resignation scene.

Game two of the finals. Once the fighting settles down, White ends up with sente and takes the lead. Black's group on the bottom isn't as strong as it appears, so he has a difficult time trying to fully press an attack on the middle White group to catch up. Score: 1-1

Iyama Yuta won the 5th game by 4.5 to become the new Meijin, and hold at the same time all the 3 big Japanese Go Tournaments!
