Where to get lessons query.
As with being my first post I will say, Greetings to all.
Now moving on I would like to ask about lessons.
I have two questions.
1. I would like to ask where would be good place to get undoubtedly "cheap" lessons.
2. Would any place out there be willing to negotiate the price of the lessons for a package deal?
The only place I know about is Guo Juan's Internet Go School and I have veiwed the prices there and those prices are definitly out of my reach at the current moment in time. So I was wondering if all prices are going to be in that area, do any of you think that any place or anyone out there would be willing to negotiate the price a bit? If I could have it my way I would like take a lesson a day but well I dont think anyone would want to put up with me for that amount of time. But at the least I would like to continually take lessons for aslong as possible till I get to like mid dan and I would be happy. Yes I have alot of free time. So for the amount of lessons I want to take, I want to know if anyone thinks it possible to get a package deal for like 10 - 20$ a lesson for so many or something, you get the idea.
I might be right in saying what im asking for is a shot in the dark and wont happen.
Thanks for any help. I do apologize if this is the wrong thread for the subject.

I think there was a thread discussing go teachers recently. If you speak english fluently, I think topazg was offering pretty cheap lessons.

I would check here also http://senseis.xmp.net/?KGSTeachers
Of course there are a few KGS teachers not listed in the above website. I would also tell you to take a look at Josh Allen(KGS name: Battousai), he gives lectures in the Enclave, and teaches various people. Also at a very reasonable price.

As far as i know there are 4 players at this forum that gives lections within your price range. That is , Battousai, Tabemasu, Alakazam and Topazg. And negotiating rebates if you pay in advance and bulk is pretty standard. But thats up for you and that particualr teacher.

Hajin Lee just posted this news article from WBaduk on her facebook page about a chance for free lessons from 14 Korean pros on a first come first serve basis. Starts tomorrow. Last a month.

A simple thing like playing a game and then having it reveiwed a bit at the end is all that im looking for. And like some study material for when im not getting a lesson or what not. As for the korean teaching games ill try for one or 2 if I can but im currently interested in breakfasts lessons.

Re: Where to get lessons query.
Not to take away any business from any teachers out there, but you can probably get enough free teaching games in the KGS teaching ladder until you get to the mid single digit kyu levels, so long as you're willing to teach weaker players in return (10k is strong enough to teach beginners a lot of the basics.)
Most high-dan players charge like $10 per hour. Pros charge more, but you probably wouldn't need pro instruction until you're a mid-dan.

At 10k, you can always ask for help in the godiscussions.com room on KGS. We won't charge.

Re: Where to get lessons query.
I guess I misunderstood. I thought the original poster to mean paid lessons. I agree with oren and fwiffo. As long as you are patient, you will get multiple teaching games and reviews from places such as KGS Teaching Ladder and the GoDiscussions.com room on KGS. I'm sure there might be places such as these on other servers, but I don't know them.
I know nothing.

For paid lessons, I'd recommend Tsurukame as a great teacher. I'm also in the Korean Insei League breakfast runs and in terms of money paid vs help received, it's unbeatable as long as you are pretty active in your league.

Re: Where to get lessons query.
There used to be something called the Go Teaching Ladder where you submitted a game you played and a stronger player reviews it for you. It was free as I recall.

Re: Where to get lessons query.
Personally, I started taking lessons when I was 8k and got a lot out of them, but the free options are certainly worth doing regardless of whether or not you take lessons. There's also the option of posting a game here once in a while for analysis. One thing I recommend, whether you take lessons or just post games places to be reviewed: if you get a game reviewed somewhere other than right after a game, take time to look through it yourself first. Try to find the biggest five or so moves you would have changed. That way, you have a chance of finding things yourself (good practice) and when you see the review, the game and errors are more fresh in your mind so the review may sink in better.
I was told to do this when I started doing lessons, and it seems to help me. Previously, I had done some self-reviews, but it was more sporadic and less aimed. The self-review followed by a higher-level review seems to be the best medicine for me.

Someday I want to be strong enough to earn KGS[-].

You should also check out soulmate on KGS. He is a chinese 5 dan who used to charge 5 Euro for a full hour.
