Will the GoGoD website be ever (reliably) back up?

Post by RBerenguel »

I'm a little late for my "Christmas wishlist" for my girlfriend, and just thought I'd probably enjoy GoGoD. But the website is down, so there is no place I can lead her to a purchase/more information.

AFAIK the website has been going up/down for at least 3-4 months.

Please have patience and accept a rain check from your gf. Allow time for mourning and I am sure John will communicate with the community about continuity plans. In the short term, I doubt it's his top priority.

I have rewritten this answer at least 10 times already, I guess there is no good way to put it in written form. I hope it's not his top priority, shouldn't be, never.

Back at point, the GoGoD site was already down 2-3 months ago, and the issue was raised here (I don't know if it was me or someone else, but back then I was pretty close to purchasing the database, and couldn't) and I wanted to know if someone was helping with this or it was still the same. The Christmas present idea has been just a coincidence and I wanted to ask.

It's being offered through SmartGo at the moment at least, iOS and Windows.

Mark wished to continue his work for the British Go Association even after he was gone, and has made substantial bequests accordingly. The British Museum has also accepted the offer of his antique board. He has asked that GoGoD should continue if possible, and although this will involve some changes (with his approval) I hope to keep his flame alive there, although frankly he will be quite irreplaceable.
