Re: SmartGo 3 with GoGoD
Sorry it's unclear from the website:
Is the beta for 3 with GoGoD free for all Smart Go 2.x owners or are the beta and all 3.x versions free for SmartGo 2 owners? Honestly, I'd be happy with either.

Re: SmartGo 3 with GoGoD
SmartGo 3 is a free upgrade for SmartGo 2 owners, both the beta and later 3.x versions. I'll change the text to make that clearer.Boidhre wrote:Is the beta for 3 with GoGoD free for all Smart Go 2.x owners or are the beta and all 3.x versions free for SmartGo 2 owners?

Re: SmartGo 3 with GoGoD
Huge compliment for the 15 days tryout. Outstanding that one can test the WHOLE program, not like e.g. MFOG where u basically get no idea what to get except of the basic features and the board. SmartGo is like Chessbase - only for Go. You can do everything: playing, tsume, databases, analyzing. Best and only all around program available.
Just as an idea for the future: Flexible board sizes. How about the first that offers a board bigger than 52x52? It's easy to program and good to advertise ("smartgo is blablabla and on top of all that it has the biggest goboard-size of the world"). I like huge boards
, playing Go there is more like drwaing a picture than playing and you get a pretty good sense of how certain features (quality) can emerge from pure quantity.

Re: SmartGo 3 with GoGoD
The problem with bigger board sizes is that low-level code using bitsets can be optimized when the maximum board size is limited. If that limit is larger than 19, there are penalties to pay in terms of code complexity, performance, and memory requirements. So any future changes are more likely to restrict the board size to a maximum of 19x19 than to allow extra large board sizes.Pippen wrote:How about the first that offers a board bigger than 52x52?
