Hi!

I've been playing Go off and on for about three years now. I got started in Go through my interest in other strategy boardgames. I knew that the game was held in high regard on boardgamegeek.com, so when my wife and I found a small folding set in a thrift store we decided to give it a try. We liked the game and recognized its longevity, so for our fifth anniversary we bought a full size board. The aesthetic experience of a full size board and decent (Yunzi) stones cemented my love for the game, and it quickly became one of my favorite pastimes. (Unfortunately, my wife and I don't play together very often anymore. Since I enjoy studying the game and she does not, we're at very different skill levels. She'll occasionally play a 9x9 game with me, though.)

Life has interrupted my journey into Go a couple of times, but I hope to develop a consistent rhythm of study and play so that I can continue to improve. Part of staying involved means being connected with a community, so after quite a bit of lurking I've decided to join this site. I already feel like I know many of you (or at least your relation to the game of Go), and I look forward to participating more fully throughout the forums.

Welcome! You can either be married and have a life or play GO. Just have to get the priorities straight. So set up the GOBAN and get out the stones!

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

LuckyJim, I do plan on starting a study journal soon.

goTony, I'm fortunate enough to have a very understanding wife and a daughter who goes to bed around 7pm every night. I may not be streaking toward the pros, but I can get in some decent study time in the evenings. :-)
