Re: 2013 LG cup
I've just put together a tournament profile for LG cup at:
http://www.go4go.net/go/tournaments/lg
The first final game is at:
http://www.go4go.net/go/games/sgfview/40676
The game is very exciting but rather difficult to understand. I'll see if I can create a few diagrams to explain a bit later.

Re: 2013 LG cup
I compiled the following diagrams from several Chinese sources offering commentary of this game.
The most interesting part of the first finale game in my opinion is the following:
starts a ko fight, ignoring ko threat
,
makes the ko much larger, and white decided to ignore the ko threat
to capture everything to the left side. Now the situation becomes a large scale life & death problem.
attempts to escape.
is a bad move, after
/
exchange, the big group is already dead - please confirm this, the shape is either a rabbitty six or a bulky five.
here is better. After
, white can fight the ko at
the keep the eye space at 'a' - if winning the ko the shape is a seki, please confirm.
That's why black had to play
first in the real game. Then
saved a small tail first, before killing the corner at
as a compensation of losing the group. The game was still quite close after this exchange.

Thanks for the analysis, macelee. Big trades are my favorite part of looking at pro games.

Re: 2013 LG cup
Tuo Jiaxi 3p will be promoted to 9p. He has been 3p quite a while even though he is among top ranker in China.

I believe Tuo was the top player overall in the Chinese weiqi league A division in 2013, so he's certainly among the first class of players in China.
