Going to Congress - Now what?

Post by psk31 »

I'm all signed up for Congress thanks to the wife and getting the time off at work. But now that I look at the participants listed, I'm seeing very few DDK players, especially low DDK. So what should I expect? Am I jumping in to the deep end of the pool? And for a totally stupid question probably, do I need to bring any equipment or is everything provided?

Looking forward to seeing you folks there!

No need to bring any equipment. And don't worry about your level, you will find someone close enough to your strength :).

Everything is provided. Even if you are a beginner, this is a great opportunity to attend lectures by pros.

People can be slow to register sometimes. By late June I expect the list will have a great deal more DDK players on it.

The pool will be just right for you. You'll discover the pleasures of face-to-face go, get your games reviewed by much stronger players, have the opportunity to get lessons, get questions answered in person in a situation where you can talk things over, have a much larger group of people with whom you can have a good game, play serious long games, play fun fast games. Some people like you go to the congress thinking they will enjoy the sights in the area where the congress is held and spend all their time except for sleeping and eating in the game rooks and rarely come up for air. Enjoy!

Great, sounds like it'll be a good time. Luckily the sights of the area won't be a distraction to me having been to the Springs many, many times. And there are plenty of things to see.
