Yeah ! My first spoiler on L19²GO . My Go teacher told me to use the same opening for 1 year when playing black. There are so much to see in one opening that it's not needed (at my level) to explore a lot of different opening and to not remember a lot. It's more important to focus on one and to try a lot of variation and remember a lot of it. So my first moves are already known !
In this game there will be a 20 points reverse komi as Kie is a lot better than me
I usually play D16 to counter kobayashi and chinese openings, but in this game I will see if he plays the mini-chinese and then I will try to start some confused fighting in order to create many possibilities for my opponent to make mistakes. The game is 20 points reverse komi so no time to relax.
As told I will try to play my favorite opening, the chinese opening, as I have been playing it for 3/4 months. So can't give an advice on why this or why that, it's just that I like it
So, no mini-chinese, this means that I will try to make the situation a little less standard by not playing a 4.4 right now, the reason is that normal openings are often studied so in a reverse-komi game playing along with the kobayashi opening or similar for 30-40 moves is not very interesting. This way I hope to be able to create some complications.
If black enters at (a) or (B) now I can either attack and create fighting from the start or press down and create thickness for fighting later on. If black tenuki, I can enclose the corner later and make good profit. So the strategy should be ok.
If black approaches at (c) I will pincer to avoid the kobayashi and keep black from simplifying the game too much.
Ok so white played mokuhazushi (3-5 point) and I haven't faced it a lot... So I won't change my opening (and I think it's not a bad one) for this. I know that the 3-5 point is usually played to stress the upper side, but allow to switch for corner easily. I think white is waiting for me to jump now in this corner but I'll resist
The Chinese opening is quite rare in this position, but probably not bad. I will approach aggressively to keep in line with my strategy in hoping to induce an early fight. Since black want to keep things simple, the following variations are what I predict he will play:
(Black pincer at (3) is possible but leads to complicated variations, I would welcome such a move).
Almost like the previous, but black has settled more of the board and reduced the aji, white is thicker now, it's a matter of preference. Some rejected variations:
This is calm move, black has many follow-ups but it's not hard to keep the game simple. Just splitting the side with (a) would suffice for black. Instead of (1), (b) or (c) are some alternatives. However, none of them are very aggressive.
White approach is one I see a lot nowadays. Here I have two ways to handle it, secure the corner with x intending to develop the side and let white play y giving him a great influence or the move I played (y), expecting white to play x and then I'll split white with a contact move at a. The issue will be a great battle I hope (oh yes, I love to battle )
Black shows his spirit with the pincer but since this is exactly what I was hoping for, I will face his challenge with a counter-pincer and get the fighting started. I will just wait and see what he answers before doing any serious reading, the possibilities are just too many here.
I might add that I am certain that no pro would ever play this move, so now we are in uncharted territory.

Ok so now I'm relying on (hope I remember well :/) my teacher lessons. The descent on the third line has multi purpose, stabilize the blacks stones by getting a chance to make a life base, don't let the right lonely white stone get the beginning of a life base and threatening the x black play
When seeing it on the board, this move feels strange... But hey, let see what happens
Malkovich games are horribles... First I know now that most of my moves are instinct plays and second I really want to see what are my opponent's spoilers

Black shape is heavy, I will try to lean a little towards it and I hope that (a) and (b) will become miai. Will black choose greed and take points to the right or protect his group and let me settle mine also? His pincer suggest aggression so I expect the greed to prevail.
I think I can't let white play here as he will make sabaki and put pressure on the lonely right low stone. I think the 2 blacks stones are not in danger (or can be sacrificed because of a, b, c... so I have a lot of possibilities to escape or make a life base.
Black played as predicted, now time to put the pressure on the black stones. I think simple cap will do, my earlier plan seems a little thin, black can still try to split my stones. perhaps like this:
Like this white probably can manage since black can't stop both moves (at least I hope so). And the black bottom group still weak so result probably ok.
The point of my play is to gamble the 2 blacks stones. Again I think I've got a lot of opportunity (taking the corner, connecting under,...) and white won't get a lot. And there's still a LOT of aji
This is for the players so that they can see that someone is watching.
Because we are. I'm cheering for Kie, because I like the commentary style and I tend to root for white in the opening. Betting white jumps to H5 for maximum combat.
