They're almost certainly not identical. There is a very slight chance that they are identical, but that the egg split very early in their development. They certainly don't look identical when you see them, so it seems very unlikely that they are genetically.
One other nice thing is that we met, very early on, another mother who was expecting twins. We kept in touch and became quite good friends. She also had her twins at 33 weeks, two days before we did, and the four babies are all lying next to each other in the hospital.
