Yang Dingxin

Post by ratata »

Yang Dinxin 1d just made it to the 3rd round Quzhou-Lanke Cup, beating among others Chen Yaoye, Wang Yao and Huang Yizhong.

Does anybody have any information about him? Some googling seems to indicate that he is currently 10 years old, and became professional at the end of 2008.

He was born in 1998 in Joangsu Province and made pro at age 9 years 9 months. Depending on whether you want a diatribe from kirby you can regard this as better than Cho Hun-hyeon, who made pro at nine in Korea, but in those days 1-dan in Korea didn't mean much, and when he moved to Japan to become a proper pro, he was started at 4-kyu.

Yang qualified for his pro passport with a 10-3 score in 2007 but for some reason he is still 1-dan.

At this rate they will soon need nappy-chganging facilities at go tournaments.

I just don't care for phrases like "proper pro", but we have already discussed this before, I guess...

Helel, I know you're incarnating your avatar, but that may be crossing the line.
