Why do our smileys have egg shaped heads, like the standard alien head .. I think round would look better .. plus they might adbuct me.

I'm pretty sure this is the phpBB standard set of smilies. Not sure why they don't have the round ones. Maybe to differentiate themselves? Maybe some silly copyright deal? I have no idea. I actually like the way these ones look, so vote is 1 to 1 so far.

I'll see if I can change a few for you. 
EDIT: Hmmm...they show up on the menu to the left as round, but when I use them, they come out oval again. I must be misunderstanding something. Effects of monofont?
