Ida Atsushi will be challenging Iyama Yuta for the Honinbo title.

There will be live broadcast on nicovideo.

The game will be broadcast with Japanese commentary on Pandanet IGS and wbaduk (Yugen no Ma).

Thanks for the heads up. I should watch it. For some reason I usually watch the shogi matches but not often the go matches.

This doesn't look exactly stellar for White (Ida) despite having three corners, does it?

Iyama takes game 1.

Niconico seemed to have more big board commentary than some previous broadcasts which was good. Of course early on there was not much to talk about, so there was a lot of rambling. I'd like to see the live broadcasts become more common.

Very interesting game: Ida could not save two groups after this attack.

Yeah, it wasn't bad. Go on niconico is still not quite on par with the shogi broadcasts unfortunately. Those have commentary recorded from the niconico studios so the quality of the stream is much better, and they do a better job of keeping things interesting with guests, phone interviews as well as a ridiculous but oh so japanese obsession for what everybody is eating with food photos and food related polls.
