Screen Capture Recorder on Mac
Hello,
In my last go camp, our teacher did use KGS and a beamer to run its lessons and commentary.
After the camp, he did provide students with videos of his teaching on USB key.
I find this very convenient and rather than taking notes on the go, I was willing to record (with my teacher's approval of course and for my own personal use) my go lessons. Would you know of any go screen recording software running on OS X?
I'm looking for something simple to use (selecting the screen part featuring the goban + recording the audio from the speakers + microphone as an option) and I'd like the videos to be fairly space efficient in terms of format (so to upload them on an ipad for "on the go" viewing).
Would you know of any good software to use for such a purpose?
Many thanks in advance,

If you have a recent enogh Mac OS, Quicktime (the one bundled in the system) can. I personally bought Screenflick for the extra options if offers

Re: Screen Capture Recorder on Mac
I’ve been using Snapz Pro X for the past 13+ years (and before that I used its precursor Snapz Pro), good, stable software with many features, I’m a satisfied customer.
And BTW, just in case somebody is wondering: the Germlish word “beamer” corresponds not to the BMW automobile but to a screen/video/computer projector.
Cordially, Tom

Re: Screen Capture Recorder on Mac
I tried Snapz before setting for Screenflick. A lower price essentially made it (so far I'm happy enough with the choice.) Both are good, so, plenty to choose from

I use iShowU HD and am pretty happy with it. I have used it to record go videos that I then transfer to my ipad for later viewing.

Re: Screen Capture Recorder on Mac
That's fantastic responses. Thank you so much !
I kind of understand that SnapPro X is the high end of the spectrum (probably together with iShowU).
I heard of it before so I'm tempted...
Of course, Screenflick is a cheaper option (and therefore a little bit more appealing... As I don't know which other uses I would have of such screen capture functionality). I was wondering if Screenflick with its "Capture Liquid Smooth Recordings" functionality would do a better job at keeping such thing as a "go session" to a more reasonable size (there isn't that much activity happening on the board if you exclude the cursor). Any idea on it?
P.S. Ahaha... I really thought "beamer" was a correct english word... It's sometimes heard in French (so, it's Frenglish actually

I think you're looking for "projector" -- but I'm sure we understood what you were trying to say.

The only English context I know it in is as slang for a BMW

As a mathematician, since Beamer is a LaTeX package to create slideshows... it also makes a lot of sense

Most of the best TeX packages are actually written by German mathematicians/compsci/TeX users. And they write very good documentation!
