I remember when playing in a bar in the 1980's couple of times it happened that someone used our lid as ashtray.

Holding the stones like a pro.
Unfortunately they may as well use skittles - at least they are shaped like go stones.
Get past the abundance of leather volumes (undoubtedly containing the missing games of past go sages), and the hilarious poses, you'll notice that the board appears to be shaded towards the edges. A clue as to the split between territory and influence, perhaps?

Perhaps I am mistaken, but it appears to me that the Go board is transparent and the reflection is coming from the table.
Funny, though, but I don't see any particular joy on their faces. In fact, they don't even look like they are playing each other--maybe looking over a lost game?!
