More basic problems in real play

Post by John Fairbairn »

I recently mentioned a case of the door group appearing in a real game. Here is another example of one of the more unusual "basic" patterns appearing live.

It doesn't have a name of its own, though versions of the problem dos appear under several different names in books such as Gateway To All Marvels, but that's a good excuse to repeat that it's not the static shape you are supposed to remember but the dynamic technique associated with it.

Go to move 67 then work out how White lives in the upper right corner. The moves he used in the game are added, so be careful not to click on too merrily.
