I've been lurking a long time, with occasional posts, but figured it would be more polite to finally introduce myself. I've been aware of go as a game since the mid-80s, but didn't play until 2005 -- and then really only learned the rules. A few years after moving to Southern California and becoming a parent, in 2011 I began to show up at the local go club (hi EdLee!). Last year I started to pay more attention to the game, thanks to my son's increasing autonomy, and have had the benefit of regular reviews of my games, thanks to Ed.
It's been slow going, with time for just a few games each week, but the discipline has yielded some results. If I can keep my fascination with go equipment under control I'll have even more time to play the game!

I will!

A cartoonist friend made it to mock me -- you can see my name and likeness in "Rusty Brown" and "Jimmy Corrigan: The Smartest Kid on Earth," usually as a very mean and callous character
It was quite an honor.
See you at the bean!
