I finally graduated

Post by Hushfield »

After 6 years of studies at the University of Ghent, Belgium (including one year of language studies in English and Dutch before switching my major) I finally received the magic slip of paper which declared that I now have a master's degree in Japanese Studies. I am quite pleased. Tea for everyone, I say.

Congratulations!

Tea is not my usual, but I'll be making an exception.

Congratulations! That's a huge accomplishment to be proud of. Also, you get a tiny little piece of paper for it.

Ooh, tea.
Someday I want to be strong enough to earn KGS[-].

Congratulations! Are you planning any sort of vacation / break from all that studying? Are you able to? Will you visit Japan? (If you haven't already been there before).
I know nothing.

Thank you very much for the kind replies.

I'm pretty ashamed to admit I have never been to Japan, but the main reason for that is that when I do go, I want to do it right and that costs a pretty penny. Very pretty for a japanologist on a jobmarket that isn't really interested. So I don't really get a break yet, as I'm juggling a full time job (soon to be part-time again) with a year of teacher-training. When I can get my dreamjob as an English or history teacher in high school I will get my long-deserved break (and trip to Japan).

I'm glad you enjoyed your tea.

I've been to Japan, but only the airport. xD So yeah, I agree with you that one ought to do it right.

I can understand, especially for a flight well over 10 hours which will cost a lot of money, and that the standard of living in Japan is high.

I'm somewhat ashamed to say that I've been to Japan three times, but never managed to learn their language. It's really a great place to visit.
