Can someone please tell me what the Weiqi Tiandi Yearbook （围棋年鉴2013年版） would contain that would not be found in the annual compilation of that year's bound volumes （围棋天地2013年1-24期合订本）?

If you already have the annual compilation of magazine issues you will not gain much from the yearbook. It's a condensed version. It contains many games records with limited commentary and summaries of the year's major tournaments and results. There are also some ratings and professional statistics published.

The yearbook is just over 400 pages. With the magazines for a year, you're looking at closer to 3000 pages. The commentary in the magazines is substantial and always follows the most recent developments. In the yearbook, you might get a single paragraph of comments for a game, at most.I suppose there will be some game records in the yearbook that aren't in the magazines, but if the only thing you want is records there is gokifu.com. I honestly think there is no sense in buying both.

I've received my copy of the 2013 compilation. As you can see from the attached photos, it is essentially all the magazines directly bound into 3 volumes. Manufacturing quality is excellent and they look fabulous on your bookshelf!

If you can't read Chinese you're not going to get much out of them. But for the Chinese-literate player these would make a lovely gift.

I also think waiting and buying the year's anthology makes a lot more sense than buying individual issues. I don't know if it's cheaper or not, but these lend themselves to long-term storage better.

They're for sale on both Jingdong (www.jd.com) and Taobao (www.taobao.com) through various shops.
