Last chance: Clamshell stone price increase on January 1st

I visited the Kurokigoishiten site earlier today, and I just wanted to give a heads up for anyone wanting to buy a new set of Slate and Shell Go Stones. It seems prices will skyrocket on January 1st.

Finding new clamshells has become harder than I'd realized and Abe's nuking of the yen in 2012 - 13 hasn't helped matters either.

The news is currently in Japanese, (my Japanese is terrible, and google translate is worse) but from what I gather, Mr. Kuroki is rising his prices starting January 1st; in some cases by more than 3x. They're revising the size of the stones, eliminating each odd number (my guess is to make it easier to keep stones in stock).

If someone with better Japanese skills than I could confirm it, I'd appreciate it :).

I was going to wait as a gift to myself when I'm stronger, but with this news and some prodding from my girlfriend, finally ended up getting a set.

And, of course, had to get a kaya board to go with it. Oops. :shock:
