DGS connection problems
Hi,
there seems to be a server or network problem with DGS (Dragon-Go-Server).
From Germany I cannot reach the server (http://www.dragongoserver.net) nor the provider (http://www.samurajdata.se).
Tracking the latest status on http://senseis.xmp.net/?DragonGoServer
Can somebody from other countries report about those problems as well?
Cheers,
/JUG (DGS-Admin)

and from the USA
Still officially AGA 5d but I play so irregularly these days that I am probably only 3d or 4d over the board (but hopefully still 5d in terms of knowledge, theory and the ability to contribute).

[UPDATE]:
Response from provider-support:
Response from provider-support:
Our fiber link to our internet service provider is down since 14:55. The fault has been reported to the internet service provider, they're sending a technician to the fiber connection point to fix it. I have no time estimate yet for when it will be fixed. The DGS server itself is up and running normally, no problems there.

Well, maybe. If a game times out before anyone can log back in it could be a problem.

That should not be a problem.
The DGS-clocks don't use the server systems time, but have an external trigger (from a German server) ... and as this server also cannot reach the DGS-server, the DGS-clocks are not "triggered", i.e. not running either.
So there shouldn't be any timeouts as all DGS-clocks are not running.

Interesting. Why? It seems someone convoluted.

The same question I've asked myself when I joined as DGS-developer. I think this system was like that from the very beginning in 2001.
But one obvious advantage is exactly the current situation: when there's a network problem on reaching the server, then the clocks are stopping as well.
But indeed I still don't like it very much (except this nice benefit with the timeout-prevention-on-network-problem) as it make some time-related things pretty hard & complex.

Re: DGS connection problems
[UPDATE from provider]: Fiber cut has been ruled out. Estimate for earliest fix according to ISP is at 20:45 CEST. Error is most probably in the access router at the ISP end.
