Review Request (17k IGS)

Post by TofuPython »

Hey everyone! I haven't played many games on this server so I think I might be a little stronger than 17k. I just got finished playing this game and I think it's the best I've ever played. I've been doing more tsumego than ever and I feel like something has clicked recently. Do you think you could point out some good/bad things I'm doing so I have an idea what to work on? Thanks so much!

Hi Tony,

Welcome.

( Not seeing an easy way to get the SGF over here, on iOS... )
Also, were you B or W ?

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the info as B, and the sgf link.

You want to copy & paste the SGF text exactly in between [SGF] tags.

Hi Tony,
Got it!
Congrats.

:w7: Did you know this completes a local joseki ?
This means both sides can tenuki from here; which brings us to...
:b8: Feels slow. Consider to approach top left corner.

:w15: Good to study a joseki here -- do you know the sequence after W hanes S16 ?

:b16: o17. The corner is less valuable than the outside, in this case.
Proverbs:
Get ahead of your opponent ;
hane at the head of 3 (or 2) enemy stones.
:b20: Still o17. Study what happens if Black o17 hanes, then double hanes N18.

:w21: o16 (same reasons as above).

:w23: o18 hane; B N18 double hane.

:w25: Big mistake.

:b26: Big miss. Find the sequence to kill top right corner. :)
Study B Q18 -- standard tesuji for this shape.
:b30: C13.

:b34: Feels a bit slow & heavy. D12.

:b36: Consider E3.

:b38: Very slow & heavy. Consider E3.

:b52: OK to just reply at R8.

:b56: OK to just turn and take cash, R8.

:w61: Disaster shape for W. F17.

:b68: Slow. B15.

:w69: Slow. Tenuki.

:b74: Unreasonable to expect W to submissively connect at H16.

:w75: W would counter attack.

:b88: Very bad feeling; bad habit
( you were so ahead in this game that this didn't matter here, but it's completely wrong. )
Study Toothpaste .

:black: 114 Pass (neutral area).
Many bigger moves; ( examples: L16, J3, etc. )
