AlphaGo at the Future of Go Summit: Broadcasts?

Post by Charlie »

Does anyone have any information on the possible broadcasts and/or live video or English commentary that will cover the upcoming AlphaGo event at the end of this month?

A Go player and potential spectator wants to know...

... but I can't seem to find much, apart from the dry facts about the games that will be played. I hope it isn't going to be "just another momentous Go event, possibly a turning point in the history of the game, that occurs and the Western World is told about it, afterwards." Last year, DeepMind did a great job of publicising the event that started all this and I watched as it transpired.

I also want to watch the one that marks the end - the point where AlphaGo proves that it really is untouchable by mere mortals.

Chris Garlock and Michael Redmond are probably doing something based on their comments in recent Master review videos (whether as official DeepMind pair like before or some more independent AGA one I don't know). I imagine the games themselves will be broadcast on numerous Asian servers. Also Kim Seungjun and Diana Koszegi said they will be doing live reviews as part of their BIBA online teaching program (http://www.bibabaduk.net/index.php?p=pContent&mid=14).

The Ke Jie games will be live streamed on Youtube.
There will also be live pro commentators. Perhaps in Chinese, perhaps in English.

You are likely to see this picture on CCTV (China Central TV) live broadcast for Wuzhen's Future Go Summit :)
