Old German amateur

We have a game in GoGoD by Edward Lasker where the source gave the date as 1953. I have just discovered that the true date was in the 1930s and that the opponent, K. Rosenwald, was a German (though the game was played in New York).

Does anyone know anything about Mr Rosenwald?

The AGA 1995 Historical Book (https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/ ... hbk95.html) lists one Kurt Rosenwald as the VP of the AGA from 1936-1940, and as President in 1941 and mentions that he was an immigrant from Germany. It also mentions that he translated at least two German books to English, Korschelt's 1881 "Das Japanisch - Chinesische Spiel 'Go' Ein Concurrent des Schach" and Grebe's 1930 "Die Elemente Des Go". Very probably the same person.

I don't have back-up references but in the USA some 60+ years ago, Lessing J. Rosenwald, was a big sponsor of chess tournaments. I wonder if he is related to the one in the game with Edward Lasker.

One bowl on the lap; the other (next to a glass of wine) on a higher table.
( A bit awkward... but even today, when the coffee shop is crowded, we're forced to come up with creative ways to place the bowls. )
