Where do you play?
Where do you play?
I know there are a lot of go servers out there, but where is your favorite place to play Go online? Are there any differences between the servers?

Re: Where do you play?
We had a poll about that some time ago(either here or on GD) and the result was that kgs is the most popular, but high dans like playing on Asian servers like wbaduk or tygem due to the strong Asian players there.

That previous thread doesn't mean we still can't have a discussion here, for both online servers and offline play.
FWIW, Araban has written about the differences between some Go servers here. However, he has not written about all the popular ones (notably absent is IGS and the turn-based servers).

Re: Where do you play?
The percentage numbers in the other thread seem to be quite useless. I wonder why no one has noticed this before. In polls where multiple selections are allowed, the percentage numbers should not refer to the votes but to the voters, hence the sum of the numbers should be greater than 100.
BTT: Sure it can be discussed here as well. As for me things have changed pretty much since the poll in the other thread. I have generally abandoned online go at all, since I couldn't motivate myself to read out positions on the board. Just playing on intuition seems to be useless and besides I suck at that. I need serious games, e.g. tournaments. I have played a couple of games on IGS, because I consider to participate in the pandanet tournament (the ranked championship) in August. Maybe I will also play the Trollnament VI. So IGS and KGS would be my only choices for next month...

Mine is, currently, spikeleen, but I change it often and furiously.
Don't have much time for Go these days, but hopefully we run into each other one day.

Re: Where do you play?
I really like to play in person when I can, but that is not always available. Online I've only ever really played on KGS, so that's what I know. I've considered giving one of the turn based servers a try, so we'll see how that goes.
Overall, I still don't play all that many games. I don't think the Online Go Anxiety helps at all.

Tygem, and sometimes Wbaduk. The other servers are not worth bothering with in my opinion.
