Hello from a new and slightly overwhelmed player :)

Post by tsmcdona »

Hey all, new player from the southeastern U.S. I came to Go from the world of board games. I knew about it for a while, but I didn't think I wanted to invest the time in becoming good. Then, by chance, I got to play my first game. I was immediately hooked. I've been floundering about for a month or so now. Currently, I'm about a 20k on OGS. I'm excited to learn and play!

I had a similar journey to go. I was curious about the old game that rated so highly on boardgamegeek, found an old board in a thrift store, and got hooked. I’ve been grateful for discovering the game. I still play quite a few other board games, but Go is definitely my favorite!

What part of the southeast are you from? I live in Colorado now, but I grew up in South Carolina.

Hang in there! I don't think it ever gets easier, but it does start to feel less overwhelming ;-)

I'm in South Carolina in fact. Grew up in Charleston and am now in Columbia.
