Got a graph of bot win%? I only watched the end of the game, but Black seemed okay in the beginning with some good territory but when white wrapped around the top left and got an attack going on the left group it seemed hard. In the post-game analysis Iyama was looking at variations in the lower side not ko fight, maybe it went pear shaped earlier?

Somehow TianRang doesn't analysis today game (lack of Chinese player, maybe?) But FineArt never put black above 50%.

"Disappointing" is too harsh. The outcome is certainly in line with expectations since Park is the much stronger of the two. It was a valiant effort by Iyama. Although the state of Japanese Go leaves much to be desired, but that's a topic for another day and another thread.

I am capable of being disappointed by expected results, it's the default state of a realistic supporter of the England football team . It's not just the result but the manner of the loss: resigning on move 128 because your group died is naturally disappointing. Worth remembering that Park is on good form and Ke Jie barely did better: he resigned because his group died on move 130. I expect Park set a record for winning an international tournament in the fewest moves.

I use Google translation (twitter use Microsoft Bing which is worse)
Both Google and Bing translate 残念でした into 'that's too bad'
But if you put the whole sentence with Iyama Yuta name it might try to translate the name part and get strange result like
井山九段残念でした。 ---> It was disappointing Iki Kurobo (Google)

Both here and on Reddit, I would recommend using caution in spreading poorly-translated articles. It's getting to be a rather common occurrence.

Back to the topic, I enjoyed watching this event. I've been kind of negative about go lately, but watching pro events like these, live, is still a lot of fun.

Somehow, live events seem a lot cooler than replaying a pro game after the fact. I can't pinpoint the reason. Maybe some sort of social aspect in the chat. Or maybe anticipation of he moves.

Not really sure, but something about it makes it fun still, even if I'm in a slump in other aspects of the game.

I think Redmond is a good commentator, too. That probably helps.

I clicked on 'It was disappointing Iki Kurobo' and the second suggestion from Google translate seems better: 'Iyama Kudan was regrettable'

Interestingly, 残念 has become a valid loan word (from Japanese) in Chinese (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%E6%AE%9 ... B5#Chinese) so Chinese could understand the meaning as well
